About Radius 250:
Artspace presents Radius 250 2024, the 10th installment of its biennial regional juried exhibition. The opening, scheduled for Friday, June 28, 2024, 6-8 pm, will showcase work by artists selected from a group of entries by our juror Caroline Wright, Owner and Director of Caroline Wright Art Advisory, in Richmond, VA. The juror’s statement and awards will be presented at 6:30 pm during the opening reception. A second reception will be held on July 26, 2024, from 6-8 pm.
Artspace began Radius 250 in 2005 to identify and help promote the high caliber and variety of artwork that is created in the Mid-Atlantic region. Work is accepted from artists who live or work within 250 miles of Richmond, VA. The radius purposely excludes New York City in order to focus on parts of the Mid-Atlantic beyond its scope. Every two years, Artspace selects a juror from somewhere within the radius and puts out the call for entries for artists in all media to submit their work for review.
ABOUT THE JUROR:
Caroline Wright is the Owner and Director of Caroline Wright Art Advisory. She received a M.A. in Modern and Contemporary Art from the University of Virginia and earned a B.A. in Art History, Journalism, and Studio Art from Washington and Lee University after completing studies at the Slade School of Fine Art and the Courtauld Institute of Art in London.
In addition to several roles in education, Wright worked previously at the National Gallery of Art and as Director of Exhibition Programming and curator of exhibitions at the Visual Arts Center of Richmond from 2011 - 2016. She served as a Governor-appointed board member and vice chair of the acquisitions committee of the North Carolina Museum of Art from 2007 - 2012. In Richmond, Wright also coordinated the inaugural CURRENT Art Fair, served on the Virginia Commission for the Arts grant review panel, and taught as adjunct faculty at VCU before founding Caroline Wright Art Advisory in 2017. Since then she has helped individuals, institutions, and corporations to assemble dynamic, meaningful art collections.
